Timothy chapter 003
Bible Chinese Union Revised VersionUpdated King James Version (UKJV)KJV
This is a true saying, (o. logos) If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desires a good work. This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
作監督的,必須無可指責,只作一個婦人的丈夫,有節制,自守,端正,樂意款待人(hospitality),善於教導; A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, able to teach; A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
不因酒滋事,不打人,不貪不義之財(not greedy of filthy lucre),只要溫和,不爭競,不貪財; Not given to wine, not an attacker, not greedy of filthy illegal gain; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
好好管理自己的家,使兒女凡事端莊順服(having his children in subjection with all gravity) One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
作執事的,也是如此:必須端莊,不一口兩舌,不好喝酒,不貪不義之財; Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy illegal gain; Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
These things write I unto you, hoping to come unto you shortly: These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
倘若我耽延日久,你也可以知道在神的家中當怎樣行。這家就是永生神的教會,真理的柱石和根基。 But if I tarry long, that you may know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, (o. pneuma) seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
